No surprise, Chinese antiques are hot in 2012

When we read this article we weren’t surprised.

In the fall of 2011, another Qing Dynasty imperial object, a white jade seal, was found in a suburban Philadelphia home and sold at auction for an impressive $3.5 million.

We love jade, almost as much as we love vases, so this high price didn’t shock us at all. What is amazing to us is that people could have extremely valuable chinese antiques in their home, and not even know how much they are worth.  A good appraisal service is a useful tool.  You don’t need to wait until antiques roadshow comes  to your town.

The love of a good vase

When it comes to what I love most about Chinese antiques, I usually think immediately about vases.  Everyone has heard about a Ming Vase and their exceptional quality.  That’s what has always drawn me to China.  The history, the quality, the beauty of the vases made in ancient China can’t be beat.
